This Indigenous Peoples Consultation as an initiative of the Nahuacalli, Embassy of the Indigenous Peoples is convened at a critical moment in the existence of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. The need to provide continuity of effort and dissemination of information regarding the global processes of consultation to which the members of the Permanent Forum have accepted responsibility as regional representatives has never been greater. The need for regional consultations with the Indigenous Peoples at the grass roots community level is a vital component of this process. The hosting Indigenous Nations are directed by the traditional protocols that define our collective responsibilities to assess, evaluate and implement strategy in order to assert the self determination, sovereignty and autonomy of our Nations and Pueblos of Indigenous Peoples continentally. These protocols were ratified and proclaimed at the First International Indigenous Summit held in Teotihuacan, Mexico - Abya Yala in the year 2000. The III Continental Indigenous Summit is set for March 26th-30th, 2007 in Tecpan, Guatemala - Central Abya Yala.
C O N I C Council of Indigenous Nations and Organizations of the Continent Treaty of Teotihuacan Protocols The TREATY OF TEOTIHUACAN is a mutual commitment, empowered by the Jurisprudence of Indigenous International Law in four aspects:
Spiritual Alliance,
Political Solidarity, Complementary Cultural Understandings, and Economic and Commercial Agreements of Exchange - POCHTECAYOTL |
